"In a gentle way, you can shake the world." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi is perhaps best known for his nonviolent approach to change-making in India through his actions as a freedom fighter and lawyer.  His efforts to help India regain its independence from British colonialism sparked world-wide civil rights and freedom movements.

Working diligently to also ease poverty, extend women's rights, end the culture of untouchability, achieve ethnic and religious harmony, and develop a society based on self-rule, Gandhi's peaceful approach to gradually alter cultural traditions and governing policies continues to influence India and the world.  His unceasing efforts to encourage his countrymen and women to use love, not violence, as a stance against hatred eventually empowered them to earn their independence.

Hand-felted by marginalized women artisans in Kyrgyzstan who have also experienced adversity, you are continuing the work of Mahatma Gandhi by purchasing one of the Silk Road Bazaar products.  You are helping to change the world for the better, one life, one heart at a time.
